Tambour Loft is a pied-à-terre for a young professional couple. The curved surfaces and multiple textures throughout hush the hustle of NYC and create an interior of calm.

Following the daily rituals and routines of the owners led us to create a central kitchen that opens onto the space, with adjacent dining and reading zones in an open floor plan.

Rather than divide spaces with walls, they are differentiated with texture and material. Tambour and brass provide identity to the kitchen.

In the lounge areas of the home, raw brick provides a counterpoint to the tambour surfaces.

Subtle curves throughout the home provide a consistent design language that is informed by an ongoing dialogue of feng shui between DM and the owners, who wanted to honor their Chinese heritage.

The bathroom of the primary suite is imagined as a grotto, textured from floor to ceiling with river stones.
